8-Point Teaser: Nuggets Over 200.5, Nets +18.5, Clippers +1.5
I hope you’re not tired of basketball, because that’s all we got (aside from the Super Bowl) for the next few months. The ESPN feature game tonight is Duke at Notre Dame in an ACC battle. ND is fresh off a whooping at home vs Virginia this weekend. I don’t see much changing when the Blue Devils head to town. Duke beat Virginia, so common sense says Duke will also blow out the Irish. Going with common sense doesn’t always work out in gambling, but I trust Barrett and Zion to dominate in this one. Duke -14.5.
In the NBA, the surging Nuggets go to Memphis to take on a struggling Grizzlies team. The Grizz barely beat the Oladipo-less Pacers on Saturday, which doesn’t bode well for them against the strong Nuggets offense. Memphis will try to slow the game down and limit possessions, and if things go to plan, they might be able to contain Denver’s offense. But, I don’t think this will happen. Nuggets -6 on the road.
In a game that I won’t be awake for, the Hawks continue their West Coast trip with a visit to the Staples Center. The Clippers played last night, but they beat the Kings pretty easily, so they shouldn’t be too tired. They beat the Hawks in Atlanta by 8, so it’s a bit curious that the spread is this small. The Hawks are 7-20 on the road (not good), and are giving up over 115 PPG (also not good). Don’t overthink this one. Clippers -6.5.
Finally, we’ve got a little teaser for ya. Teasers are basically a special kind of parlay where you can add 8 points to any part of a normal bet. For example, if the line is Even, you can get any team at +8. And if the O/U is set at 200, you can get the Over at 192 or the Under at 208. Tonight, I’m going with the Nuggets/Grizzlies Over 200.5 (Nuggets average 112 PPG), Clippers +1.5 (see above that the Hawks are bad), and the Nets +18.5 at Boston. The Nets lost a key guard in Spencer Dinwiddie to injury, but they’ve been playing well lately, so I think they keep this one relatively close. Stay Positive.
