Whew, lots of basketball today. Starting in college, Buffalo, the surprise team of the year, faces off with Western Michigan in some MACtion. I know basically nothing about these teams apart from the fact that Buffalo scores a bunch of points and is 11-3-1 against the spread. I’ve almost pulled the trigger on them the last two games and they covered comfortably, so I’m riding with them tonight. Buffalo -14.
The best game of the night is a top 10 matchup in an in-state Virginia rivalry game. Both these teams give up less that 6- points a game, and in two road games, VT hasn’t scored more than 63. Also, Virginia has only allowed more than 60 at home once this season, and they won that game by 36. I like a very slow-paced game and lots of strong defense to hit the under 124.5.
Moving on from what should be a boring game to what should be a very fast-paced, up and down game in Chapel Hill. UNC got smoked in their last game at home by Louisville, so they need to come out sharp. Notre Dame might not be the best for points, but I think this game will be fast enough to get them a lot of shots. If UNC gets back to their normal level, this Over should hit pretty comfortably. Over 157.
NBA time. In the early window, we’ve got a Jimmy Butler revenge game. This is his first game against his former team so he should be locked in. I think his teammates will rally around him and give their best effort. The Wolves have injured point guards, so Karl Anthony-Towns will be relied upon heavily, which should allow the Sixers to key on him. I think they limit him enough to cover -6.
Finally we get to LA where the worst-run franchise in pro sports (Bulls) face the LeBron-less Lakers. The Bulls are awful, the front office has no clue what they’re doing, and the Lakers are pretty good at home. Also the Bulls have been out West for a while now, so they probably just want to go home. Seems like an easy pick, which is a little worrisome, but still rolling with Lakers -7.
